This investigation was filmed by Compassionate Consumers at a Wegman's Egg Farm battery cage facility in Upstate New York that houses 750,000 egg-laying hens. Battery cages are stacked in rows with several birds per cage, each hen getting a space to live in that is smaller than a standard sheet of paper. The inhumane conditions compassionate Consumers documented at Wegman’s are much like those found at other large-scale egg farms throughout the U.S. About 98% of the eggs in America are produced using the battery cage system.
